Friday night was Oak Mountain Church’s annual Father/Daughter campout and it was a blast! We were rained out last year and, with all of the rain we have had lately, we were wondering if we were going to be able to get it in this year. After raining until noon on Friday, the skies cleared and gave us amazing weather with a full moon, totally cloudless sky, and crisp, autumn temperatures.
I guess I need to clarify. While it is billed as a Father/Daughter campout, on the first night the dads don’t see much of their girls. This year was no different. We arrived around 5 Friday afternoon, set up the tent (well I set up the tent), moved in our stuff, and that was about the last I saw of Ryland and Keller until it was time for the hayride.
The girls had a blast with their friends roasting marshmallows, eating smores, and squealing as girls have been known to do. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with some of the other dads. It was great to hear all of the different conversations taking place around the three big campfires and in various other huddles around the campsite.
Saturday morning we got up early (the little girls made sure of that!), ate breakfast, and canoed and hiked around Hargis Retreat.
Here are a couple of shots with the girls…
