First there was Susan Boyle, Connie Talbot, and Paul Potts on Britain’s Got Talent. Then there was Landau Murphy, Jr and Lys Agnes on America’s Got Talent. Now an exceptional talent with an even more exceptional story has surfaced in Korea. 22 year-old Choi Sung-Bong’s amazing performance on Korea’s Got Talent moved the audience and judges to tears…along with millions of other viewers who don’t even speak Korean. This is yet another reminder that that grace, love, and beauty speak the language of the heart that transcends cultural and language differences and testifies to the fact that we share the same Designer. As I watched Choi Sung-Bong sing, I couldn’t help but think about a day in the not so distant future where every tongue and every tribe will be united in glorious worship. May this video remind us to set aside our petty differences and to love the unlovely and connect with others in our broken condition. We all live as orphans at times, but we are not alone.

As I was finding the videos for the other artists in order to provide the links, I watched all of the videos again and was struck by the similarities of them all. The surprise in each case by the audience and the judges…the extreme humility…the unlikely “package…the obstacles that had to be overcome just to get to the audition. No doubt that each of these videos have our Father’s fingerprints all over them. I encourage you to invest 20 minutes and watch all six videos and see if you pick up on a theme shared in Isaiah 53:3:
He was despised and rejected by men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
